WELCOME TO THE 'QUINTESSENTIAL TOUCH' WEBSITE.

Having had an interest in holistic therapies for many years I trained with VTCT at Huddersfield Technical College, gaining my Certificate in Body Massage as well as Diplomas in Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage.

I am a Member of the International Council of Holistic Therapists (MICHT), which is part of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).

I run a mobile service working from the Denby Dale area, which is close to the West / South Yorkshire border and just a stones throw from the M1 motorway near the junctions for Huddersfield, Wakefield and Barnsley. Being a mobile therapist means that clients can be treated in the comfort of their own home. Hotel visits, for those whose work keeps them on the move, can also be arranged.

I offer a choice of Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage treatments, all relaxing, uplifting and very therapeutic.

SO, WHY WOULD YOU NEED (OR WANT) HOLISTIC THERAPY?

Maybe you're feeling stressed. Never get any 'me' time. Find it difficult to concentrate. No energy left to spend quality time with your family. Can't (or have forgotten how to) relax. Disturbed sleep. Can't sleep. Emotional turmoil... and so on.

Any of these conditions, and more besides, can benefit from holistic therapy. Conversely, you may just wish to enjoy a treatment for the general benefits and feeling of well-being that it brings.

RECEIVING A TREATMENT (maybe for the first time).

For those who have never experienced holistic therapies before, but wish to try, you may be wondering what to expect at a treatment session.

The first step at any treatment session is for me to carry out a consultation. At your first session this will be quite in-depth in order for me to assess your suitability for treatment in the event of any health problems you may have. Consultations at the beginning of future sessions will re-assess and update this information, and all information given by you during these consultations will be treated in the strictest confidence.

If you do have any health conditions, and particularly if you are taking any prescribed medication, then permission from your GP will be required before any treatment can be given.

The next step is the treatment itself. Here I will allow you a few moments privacy to get yourself ready. For Indian Head Massage you will be seated on a chair and I will only require you to remove enough clothing for me to be able to treat your upper back, shoulders, arms and neck areas prior to treatment of your face and scalp. For Full Body Massage and Full Body Aromatherapy treatments I will require you to remove all but your undergarments and then settle yourself between the towels on the couch.

For some people such a situation could make them feel very vulnerable and insecure. If you have any such concerns please be assured that you will not be expected to lay there 'in the buff'. The towels covering you will be rolled back enough to treat the appropriate areas in turn and respect will be shown throughout. Indeed, once the treatment commences, experience shows that any nervousness or concerns you may have in this regard tend to evaporate as treatment progresses. Your comfort throughout the treatment, in all regards, is of great importance.

...and for NATURISTS.

Some of you, of course, may be naturists and have a totally different outlook and attitude to your body. Comfort is naturally important to you too, and a common irritation is what you may deem to be an unnecessary process of covering and uncovering. Your comfort is catered for as well and you are perfectly entitled to relax nude on the couch if you wish. As a naturist myself it makes little difference to me. It is entirely your choice and, either way, you will be treated with respect.

AFTER THE TREATMENT.

Following the treatment you are allowed a few minutes to rest, after which 'aftercare' advice is given, both verbally and in the form of leaflets for you to keep and consult at your leisure.
